Working for any company can barrage the mind with negative influences. Do you change work or do you change your mind?

We’re all guilty of it. Sometimes people and things in our life creep up that just grab hold of our mind so powerfully that the mind grabs a hold of that object just as tightly. When we are driving and that car in front of us scoots in ever so closely to your front bumper, or there’s a guy that seemed to be in such a rush to get ahead of you just 30 seconds ago and now he is driving five miles below the speed limit WTF? You argue with your family, co-workers annoy you.

You may think that talking about these things that annoy you helps you get it out of your system, however this is just a form of rationalization. A way to assuage the cognitive dissonance from feeling so badly. You are feeling badly because some un-wanted thing appeared in your experience. The best thing to do is to let it go. Just let it go. If your mind is holding on to that object which is causing you such discomfort and ill feeling t hen you best let it go.

Have you ever noticed that you find the things you are looking for? I don’t mean if I lose my keys I will find them when I start looking for them, in fact, I may find them when I stop looking for them and just relax for a moment. What I mean in the first sentence of this paragraph is that if we are looking for trouble, we find it. If we are looking for love, we find it (or what we think love is). If we seek happiness we will find that too. Happiness is not something that you can immediately jump to from a feeling of great sadness. If you’ve ever lost something you had a strong attachment to, you should be able to empathize. The first day is horrible. Then you slowly get better. Your mind slowly starts to release its grip on the person, thing, feelings, and memories as you begin to embark on new experiences.

If you don’t like your job or if you feel you will never find a job you can enjoy or make a career out of, maybe the first thing you need to do is work on your self. What motivates you? What are you passionate about? Is there anything at your company you see that you would like to change? Maybe it’s not so much that the company you work for needs to change so much as you need to change the way you view your relationship with the company.

The factory worker who feels his input is valued and can see that he or she has an impact on the way operations are handled feels much happier in his job.

If your company operates from top to bottom, try standing on your head. Do you see things differently now? Of course you do. The best advice I can really give to anyone who may just be starting out in the corporate world, in a sales or business development career is to get used to being knocked down. Even more so, get used to picking yourself up off the floor, brushing yourself off, and then, unshaken, step back up to the plate for more. There are a million reasons why the people we work with do the things they do. Try not to take things personally. Try to do your best and keep looking for the good in every situation. Look for what you like, and focus on that.

This is a strange time we workers are a part of. Products can literally be purchased anywhere at any time with the push of a button. How amazing this interconnected complex collective of accomplishments spurned on by a burning desire to create something is!!

Do you see how it is all in your mind? Do you see how you have the control? How you feel, what you think, what you do does not have to be governed by external influences at all. It is up to you! You can decide to think those thoughts that bring you the greatest joy and you will align with that feeling! If you get to feeling good enough your new work space could be right next to warehouse bathrooms and you shouldn’t care. But here is the interesting thing. Once you get to a place of feeling good all the time, things that feel good will begin to flood your experience.

So lets say you are unhappy at your job. You dislike you boss, can’t trust your co-workers, and it feels like you have no way out. If you start looking for positive things about your job and the people you work with, you will become a positive force to be reckoned with. And after some time, if you do not get a new more attractive job offer (you must be looking of course), your relationship with your employer will change. You may see things about these people you’ve never seen before. You may find them giving you courtesies and considerations they never have.

Just as the mind is so powerful in making us feel the pain of a lost love, so can the mind be powerful enough to bring us in t ouch with those things that make us happy. It all starts with setting the intention to live a joyful experience. If you want every waking moment of your life to be blissful, you can’t let your mind take you down destructive paths. Learn to construct your own reality. Tell the story you’d like to see. Life your fullest potential and prosper.

Welcome to the first edition of Three Hours Behind. I call this blog Three Hours Behind because I am the west coast sales rep for a company that is based in New Jersey. This is a blog about the power of positive thinking and working in manufacturing and sales. This is a site about doing your best to constantly improve your value of life by making small observations and adjustments on a daily basis.

This site is for those who have the vision and the desire to give every day of your life your level best effort. This site is dedicated to those who reject mediocrity and allow prosperity, growth, and abundance into their lives.

I aim to attract successful inventors and entrepreneurs to my blog. I’ll be writing about what makes the heart of a millionaire tick and what drives the desire of these entrepreneurs. Do they really think differently from the rest of us? I would like to also offer some book reviews.

I’ve worked in several different sales jobs and the only other field I’ve been in is health care. The one thing I’ve noticed about the successful and reputable sales people is that they do what has to be done in order to successfully get the job done. It’s almost as if the satisfied customer is just as rewarding as the financial gain of a sales commission.

When I did direct sales for MLM the most successful sales people were the ones that followed the script and the ones who went to the most doors. It’s pretty obvious. If I go to 45 businesses and you go to 75, who do you think is going to make more money? The organizational structure of MLM is seriously unstable. You tend to notice these things when you have a master’s degree in industrial / organizational psychology.

The structure of an organization is its blueprint for success. Here’s where the nut meets the bolt.

Just for fun lets refer to our entrepreneur as the nut and the organizational structure as the bolt.

In order for the entrepreneurs to optimally capitalize on their products or services on a daily basis, their must be a seamless integration with the bolt. Sales people have to be on the phone securing orders, customer service has to deal with product issues, operations will ensure that the sales people know what products are available, HR evaluates the workers, management directs the workers, etc.

This web can trip some people up pretty badly. Plus it can be costly. How about lost orders due to improperly trained sales / customer service staff? Do you know the process your sales people are using to book orders? Does your competition hold an edge over you in any way?

I look forward to the discussions these posts may initiate.
